This week 6th,7th,and 8th grade classes will be taking the Reading and English Universal Screener. The measurement tool will be the BRIDGE. I have planned to utilize 4 days to complete the two screeners. There will also be a 6 week test covering Prefixes, Suffixes, and past tense verbs. I will have a review on Monday and Tuesday. The test will be on Thursday.

8th grade – read “Just Once” from Literature book. Students will provide support of their understanding of the main characters internal/external conflict.

ELA
The students have completed their research paragraph on Guinea Pigs. The classes spent several days on revising and editing.
The students began examining how prefixes can change the base words meaning.This week I will provide 4-5 more prefixes to their list. Thursday, the classes will begin suffixes and their spelling rules.
The 6th graders have been receiving Reading support in Science and Social Studies for the new vocabulary and chapter readings.

The classes have enjoyed researching facts about guinea pigs. You may have heard quite a few interesting facts about guinea pigs from your student. The kids loved sharing the facts with the class. This week the students will write a rough draft, revise, edit, and write a final copy of their paragragh.

Students will use library books and internet sites to gather information on the topic – Guinea Pigs. Students will select and organize their information onto a graphic organizer. Using the organizer, students will write one to two paragraphs using descriptive sensory language. Students will share interesting facts to classmates.
