This week the students will be taking a writing benchmark. 7th grade will take the benchmark on two, half- days. 6th & 8th grade will have one, half-day of benchmarking. The tests days are still to be determined.

Jan. 6-10, 2014

Students will be working towards grade level TEKS according to their IEPs.

Students will begin a novel unit which will last for two weeks. The 6th & 7th grade will read Alistare Owl, the 8th grade will read The Giver.

6th & 7th grade – Genre – Fiction – Read/Listen to chapters 1-5, begin characterization chart, graph plot chart,and infer the mood through the use of figurative language.

8th grade – Genre – Science Fiction/Fantasy – Read/listen to chapters 1-11, Vocabulary and Concepts: theme, motif, symbols – Students will recognize the importance of memory, relationship between pain and pleasure, and the importance of the individual. Students will chart and explain the characters personality traits and development throughout the novel.

 

Dec. 9-13 Reading & English

Students will be working towards grade level TEKS according to their IEPs.

Reading – Students will read the teacher selected stories to the teacher and answer the comprehension questions using strategies to locate the information in the reading.
